You know how I’ve written blog posts in the past and said things like, “Let me know in the comments box–I’m all ears!” and then I get, like, two comments?
Well, buckle up, kids, ’cause I’m serious this time.
I want some feedback here!
The past couple of months, I’ve been working on giving more responsibility to the kids. P is 6, D is 4, E is 2, and the baby is 1. (The baby doesn’t really count in this equation right now.)
So, the following are jobs that I wrote on a big sheet of paper and taped to the wall.
–get drinks for everyone at meals
–clean the bathroom (he does this with a few baby wipes which lets me go in and wipe everything down with Clorox wipes in a matter of minutes.)
–make his bed
–gather laundry in Mom and Dad’s room every night before bed (we gather at night, stick it in the washer on the “delay” cycle, and the laundry is ready for the dryer when we wake up)
–bring the recycling box back up to the garage on Mondays
–set the plates on the table at each meal
–clear the plates on the table after each meal
–wipe down table after meals
–make his bed
–gather laundry in the boys’ room each night before bed
–get the mail
–put silverware on the table at each meal
–put any books away that are left out
–put pajamas on her bed each morning
–wipe down refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher with wet rag
Here is what I have found.
The kids LOVE their jobs.
Love them so much that if I go ahead and put the silverware out on the table, there are tears.
And don’t even get me STARTED on if I put the plates on the table.
So, they’re a little possessive over their jobs.
Good. Win-win for everyone.
But this is where YOU come in.
What jobs do your kids have? What are the ages and jobs?
I want to know.
I promise I want to know.
So…please comment. I know more than 2 people read this blog, so warm up your typin’ fingers.
